When Failure Is Not An Option
6/11/2020
The manufacture of Intelligence, Surveillance, & Reconnaissance (ISR) optics requires a rigorous analysis of the capabilities and methods of an optical component design/manufacturing partner. Not all design/manufacturing partners are the same, and it is important that integrators elect to work in a collaborative way with companies that have the expertise, pedigree and capabilities to scale up production of components in an accurate and repeatable way.

Specifying Surface Figure And Wavefront Distortion For Multi-layer Optical Filters
1/15/2019
This white paper helps explains where, when, how, and how much to specify wavefront distortion to ensure that functional requirements of filters are guaranteed while unnecessary and costly constraints are avoided.

Large-Format, Narrow Band Pass Filters (NBPF) – A Uniformity Challenge
1/27/2017
Within so many diverse optical filtering applications, large-format (>100 mm diameter), narrow bandpass filters (NBPF) are required to be used alongside large collection optics in order to facilitate specific and selective analysis of a phenomena or the substance of interest.

Using Next-Generation Thin-Film Optical Filters For Fluorescence Imaging And Detection Systems
5/23/2016
Within any fluorescence application, there are three basic filters that are needed for operation – the excitation filter, the emission filter, and the beamsplitter. This white paper further discusses the use of Alluxa’s thin-film optical filters in fluorescence imaging and detection systems.

Enhancing Endoscopy With Optical Filters
10/30/2015
While white-light reflectance (WLR) imaging has become the standard for in vivo diagnosis using “conventional endoscopy,” this white paper details three alternatives — or supplements — to WLR that leverage the wavelength selectivity provided by optical filters.

Metal-Mesh Optical Filter Technology for Mid-IR, Far-IR, Terahertz and Submillimeter Ranges
7/6/2012
Metal-mesh filters are used to selectively filter far-infrared radiation before it reaches a detector. Metal mesh filters improve detection capabilities through blocking out-of-band interferences, can improve the performance of lower-end detectors, improve signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and much more. They are ideal for increasing system performance for astronomical spectroscopy and space-based applications. This article discusses the benefit over using metal-mesh filters in the mid-to-far infrared spectral range over multilayer thin film dielectric filters, and band pass filters.
