Precision Glass & Optics (PG&0) recently announced the successful collaboration with the Laser Interferometric Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) team to develop and install specialty black glass plates that will be used to reduce noise, or unwanted electronic signals, in the observatory detectors. The two large interferometers are dedicated to the detection and measurement of cosmic gravitational waves for scientific research.

Our plate beamsplitters are designed to split a beam of light into separate paths. The percentages of transmission, reflection and wavelength region can vary according to your application. The first surface is an all dielectric coating. The second surface is generally antireflection coated to minimize secondary reflections and ghosting.
