We are also expert at glass fabrication and assembled optics ranging from square, rectangular, and circular parts to sophisticated and complex shapes for industries such as military/defense, biophotonics, life sciences, avionics, solar, digital cinema, imaging, displays, homeland security, medical, and more.
Since 1985, PG&O has been developing specialized solutions for precision and commercial applications globally. From our 18,000 sq. ft. optical manufacturing facility in Santa Ana, California, we deliver a broad array of products from flats, prisms, beamsplitters, to precision thin film coatings, including dichroic, dielectric, and metal. Our specialized optical thin film coatings operate in the spectral range from 250 nanometers out to 2.5 microns. We are fully equipped to handle many types of custom optics, from prototype through high-volume production.
PG&O's quality control (QC) system utilizes the fundamentals of MIL-I-45208A as well as the optical manufacturing disciplines of MIL-PRF-13830B. Our quality system is compliant with ISO 9002; we maintain these and other QC principals to meet and/or exceed customer requirements.
Privately-held, we emphasize highest quality, durability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness to meet our customer's strictest deadlines, product specifications, and budgets. Our friendly executive team and staff of engineering experts are available to answer your questions about precision thin film coatings, glass fabrication, and custom or commercial optical solutions.

Precision Glass & Optics (PG&O), provides optical thin film coatings and custom optical solutions for a wide variety of life science and biomedical applications. With the recently-announced installation of an in-situ optical monitoring and advanced rate control system, the company produces single- and multi-layered thin films with ultra-precision, up to 10x higher accuracy than previously available.
Precision Glass & Optics, announces the successful installation of a new optical monitoring system, the SL-2012A SpectraLock from Eddy Company. The advanced system provides in-situ optical monitoring and rate control to produce single and multi-layered thin films with ultra-precision and accuracy.
Precision Glass & Optics recently announced the customization of two thin film optical components for a high-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) accessory. They developed the dielectric cold mirror and cylindrical prism mirror for the Real Eye Nano; an advanced visual presentation and eye-tracking system constructed of glass and plastic with a reduced size for operation in confined MRI spaces.
Precision Glass & Optics (PG&0) recently announced the successful collaboration with the Laser Interferometric Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) team to develop and install specialty black glass plates that will be used to reduce noise, or unwanted electronic signals, in the observatory detectors. The two large interferometers are dedicated to the detection and measurement of cosmic gravitational waves for scientific research.
Precision Glass & Optics, global experts in optical manufacturing, customized optical solutions, and precision thin film coatings, introduces a new polarizing beamsplitter cube that splits up the S & P polarization of light with an extinction ratio of Tp/Ts 200:1 and higher.
This year at Photonics West, Dan Bukaty with PG&O (Precision Glass & Optics) talked to us about how over 100 years of collective engineering experience at his organization has been leveraged to deliver high performance optics without breaking the bank.
At 2016’s Photonics West exhibition, Dan Bukaty talked to us about Precision Glass & Optics’ (PG&O) view on partnering with their customers.
BOROFLOAT®, the world’s first borosilicate glass by SCHOTT, has become one of the most influential specialty glass materials with its thermal stability, superior surface quality, and remarkably high transmission for utilization in research applications such as its implementation in the Hobby Eberly Telescope.
At Photonics West this year, Dan Bukaty Jr. with Precision Glass & Optics (PG&O) spoke with us about the misconception of Asian manufacturers being both faster and less expensive than their American counterparts. If you’re looking for plain or coated optics or high-volume scribing technology from a U.S. based manufacturer, look no further.
At Optics and Photonics 2014, PG&O’s president Dan Bukaty, Jr. met with Photonics Online to discuss his company’s line of polarizing beamsplitters with extinction ratios of up to 1000:1 and a laser damage threshold up to 12 megajoules per cm/2.
Specialized thin film optical coatings are currently being designed into customized displays that serve to modify the viewing angle and eliminate unwanted stray light that would otherwise distract the pilot(s) and crew in commercial and military aircraft cockpits. By PG & O Precision Glass & Optics
This application note provides information on the benefits of SWIR imaging in harsh or low-light level conditions, and PG&O's capabilities in manufacturing optical components for SWIR imaging.
PG&O’s Precision Optical Fabrication facility specializes in Plano optical components. Our many years of industry experience enable us to interact with your engineers in order to produce needed components rapidly -- without sacrificing quality or cost-effectiveness.
Our plate beamsplitters are designed to split a beam of light into separate paths. The percentages of transmission, reflection and wavelength region can vary according to your application. The first surface is an all dielectric coating. The second surface is generally antireflection coated to minimize secondary reflections and ghosting. We can optimize your coating to meet your specification (R/T ratio, angle of incidence and wave length).
PG&O offers a full range of anti-reflection coatings from 350nm to 1700nm. We have standard broadbands, V-Coatings, and double V-Coatings matched to a variety of substrates, as well as single layer MgF2. All can be shifted to your wavelength and angle requirements.
