Infrared Emitter: SHA727-5M0

The SHA727-5M0 is a high-power, steady-state thermal infrared (IR) emitter engineered to provide continuous and stable broadband output.
Utilizing a coiled filament that emulates a black body source, the device delivers a typical emissivity of ~0.70 and is optimized for precision applications in gas analysis, medical diagnostics, industrial process monitoring, and spectroscopy.
Operating at a filament temperature of approximately 1170 K, the emitter peaks around 2.5 µm while offering broad spectral coverage. When paired with a mid-IR bandpass filter—such as 4.26 µm for CO₂ detection—the SHA727 5M0 can be tailored into an application-specific light source for non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) gas sensing, capnography, environmental monitoring, and other analytical tasks.
The emitter is housed in a robust TO-5 package with an integrated parabolic reflector, producing a collimated and uniform output beam. Its design supports constant current or constant voltage DC drive, with recommended case temperatures maintained at or below 100 °C via appropriate heat sinking. This ensures long-term operational stability and reliable lifetime performance, even in demanding environments.
Engineered and built in the USA, the SHA727-5M0 is ideally suited for OEM platforms requiring precise, stable, and repeatable IR emission. Its versatility and performance make it a key enabling component across life sciences, industrial, and medical applications where accurate and consistent IR sources are essential.
