Increased Power and Eye-Safety Combined
Bedford, NH – November 24, 2020 - The FLEXPOINT MVpulse laser module delivers an output power of up to 100 mW and fulfills all the requirements of laser classes 1 or 2. This is achieved with an integrated microcontroller that provides a continuous wave laser in such a way that individual pulses can be generated. MV output power is five times higher than in cw operation, with the laser class specifications maintained for the entire pulse sequence. The electronics ensure that the individual pulses always remain within the laser protection requirements, should the input signal fluctuate. Input pulses that are too long can be “shortened.” If the pulse sequences are too fast, the controller then forces the necessary pauses.
With control electronics, the FLEXPOINT MVpulse fulfills two important criteria for industrial image processing. First, the principle of “the brighter the better” term, applies throughout the industry in that more light that hits a surface, the shorter the exposure times can be achieved with the camera. The result is more pictures per second and more data. Second, the systems are operated without extensive protective devices and comply with an eye-safe laser class. This pulse generator accomplishes this in one laser.
The FLEXPOINT MVpulse is available for wavelengths 640 nm, 660 nm, and 780 nm, and delivers output powers of 10 mW to 100 mW at pulse lengths between 15 ms and 0.38 ms.
