By Shin Kikuchi et al., Canon
Part 2 of the series describing advancements in CMOS sensors and processing focuses on a new Super 35 mm CMOS image sensor that is specifically developed to support origination of High Dynamic Range (HDR) motion imagery. Another development is two separate photodiodes within each photosite that is essential for achieving the 15-stop dynamic range, and supports a unique in-sensor phase detection strategy that closes a focus control loop around the cine lens.
