A family of fiberoptic transceivers incorporate vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSEL) and molded optics to provide a low cost component in an industry standard 1X9 SC duplex form factor. The Gigabit Ethernet SX transceiver offers an 850 nm source/detector that operates at data rates up to 1.25 Gbit/s; applications include LAN routers, switches, hubs, and NIC for high-performance servers. The Fibre Channel SX transceiver incorporates 850-nm sources and detectors and operates at rates as high as 1.0625 Gbit/s. The 622-Mbit/s intermediate range transceiver provides electro-optic serial data transmission over a multimode optical fiber. All devices include process caps to seal the optical connector interface during soldering and cleaning.
