VC Z With A New Core: Innovative Generation Of Intelligent Cameras

Ettlingen – With the introduction of the VC Z series at this year’s VISION exhibition, Vision Components (hall 1, stand F42) will focus on a new generation of intelligent cameras featuring an innovative hardware and software approach. All models are equipped with Xilinx’ Zynq module, an ARM dual-core Cortex-A9 with 866 MHz and an integrated FPGA. Users thus gain extremely fast real-time image processing systems suitable for demanding high-speed and line scan applications. The new operating system VC Linux ensures optimal interaction between hardware and software.

The new camera generation is based on the board camera series VCSBC nano Z. With a footprint of 40 x 65 mm, these compact systems are especially easy to integrate into machines and plants. They are optionally available with one or two remote sensor heads and thus suitable for stereo applications. Users can choose between two enclosed camera types: the VC nano Z, which has housing dimensions of 80 x 45 x 20 mm, and the VC pro Z, which measures 90 x 58 x 36 mm and can be fitted with a lens and an integrated LED illumination. All models feature a serial and a Gigabit or 100Mbit Ethernet interface as well as up to twelve programmable I/Os, a trigger input, and a flash trigger output. 512 MB RAM and 16 GB Flash are available for program and image storage. Five global shutter CMOS sensors from different manufacturers provide resolutions between Wide VGA and 4.2 megapixels.
