VC Smart Inspect: Vision Sensor For Quality Inspection Tasks

Source: Vision Components GmbH

VC Smart Inspect, the new vision sensor from Vision Components, is an ultracompact complete machine vision solution for a wide range of industrial applications. Featuring a 700 MHz processor with a computing power of 5,600 MIPS, the high-performance sensor is extremely fast. 32 MB Flash and 128 MB DDRAM are available for program and data storage. The housing, which measures only 140 x 70 x 35 mm, contains an intelligent camera and a high-output High Power LED illumination. The illumination, which is positioned at an angle, ensures that even difficult surfaces can be examined reliably.

Like all intelligent cameras from VC, the VC Smart Inspect executes all image processing routines without an external PC, outperforming conventional vision sensors. The units thereby enable automation in applications where conven-tional, PC-based image processing systems are too costly or too complicated to implement. They feature an Ethernet interface that enables live video output on a PC and can be optionally equipped with an RS232 interface. Images are rec-orded by means of a global shutter CMOS sensor whose performance equals that of a CCD sensor, providing clear, high-resolution pictures even in extremely fast applications.

About Vision Components GmbH
Vision Components GmbH, founded in 1996 by Michael Engel, inventor of the first intelligent camera for industrial applications, is a leading supplier in the field of machine vision. Branches and distributors represent the Ettlingen-based company worldwide in more than 25 countries. Vision Components develops and distributes intelligent, network-compatible real-time Smart Cameras, which are able to operate without a PC and can be integrated into almost any industrial facility. Typical applications include quality inspection and automation. Equipped with the proprietary multitasking VCRT operating system, VC Smart Cameras can be easily configured for all possible tasks. Furthermore, VC provides software libraries for a wide range of applications including motion capture, decoding, measurement, and positioning. Additionally, VC develops custom-tailored solutions for specific tasks such as wafer handling in the solar industry or OEM camera modules for medical devices technology.
