UltraVolt – Precision High-Voltage Amplifiers Can Operate In DC, Reversible And Amplifier Mode

Latest from UltraVolt is news of the expansion of its popular line of precision high-voltage amplifiers with the new the HVA Series which is capable of operating in DC, reversible and amplifier modes.

The new line of precision high-voltage amplifiers, the 10HVA-20HVA Series, is available with unipolar or bipolar output at 0 to 10kV, 15kV and 20kV. Together with UltraVolt’s original line of high-voltage amplifiers, the HVA Series, designers have eight voltage ranges choices from 0 to 1kV through 20kV. The new HVA modules provide a high-resolution, high-voltage DC to full scale waveform capability greater than 500Hz+ output depending on loading. HVA units operate a precision filter/divider and linear HV switch to produce the high-voltage amplifier. The HVA Series can both source and sink current linearly through 0V with low ripple and low noise over the entire output range.

UltraVolt’s high-voltage amplifiers provide ‘excellent’ line and load regulation and offer a fast slew rate (40V/µs) and high bandwidth. The product line performs with a 25ppm temperature coefficient standard, 15ppm optional. The ‘-F’ Ripple Stripper output filter option further reduces output ripple and noise. A differential precision, 0 to 10VDC control input as well as precision voltage and current monitors are standard.

The new 10kV, 15kV, and 20kV HVA modules are optimized for DC, reversible, and amplifier bias applications while providing excellent line regulation, load regulation, dynamic response, and stability. The modules also feature constant voltage / constant current auto crossover (CV/CC).

Typical HVA series applications include drivers for Pockel’s cell & electro-optic modulation and electrophoresis. The series is also optimized as an amplifier for ion beam and electron beam devices such as mass spectrometry and electron microscopes as well as beam electrostatic deflection/focusing, electro-spinning, corona charging / discharging, says the company.

About UltraVolt
“UltraVolt is excited to expand our HVA Series High Voltage Amplifier product line with 2x the unipolar output voltage and 4x the bipolar output voltage”, said James Morrison, CEO and co-founder, UltraVolt. “The HVA Series offers a significant capability for a relatively low cost compared to other solutions, giving designers a new device to use in more exciting ways than ever before! HVA devices work well in Ion beam, Electron beam, laserbeam, and Electrophoresis applications. With the HVA’s fully featured digital-ready analog interface, getting experiments and proof-of-concept systems up and running quickly accelerates time-to-market efforts.
