OPOTEK Inc.ller is designed to automatically control all functions of a tunable laser system that is comprised of an MagicPrism Optical Parametric Oscillator (OPO), UV modules, and the Nd:YAG pump. The device also enables real-time data collection. It will tune the laser system to a specific wavelength, automatically scan the wavelength over a preset tuning range, measure output wavelength with a calibrated spectrograph, make real-time pulse energy measurements, and analyze experimental data. It also controls pump-laser activation and system pulse repetition rate.

The system consists of a laptop computer, an A/D card, and a calibrated photocell for shot-to-shot energy measurements. The module incorporates a spectrograph with a CCD array for accurate, automatic wavelength measurements. A small fraction of the output from the OPO is directed into an optical fiber bundle. The bundle is split into three branches - one directs the light into the spectrograph for wavelength measurement, the second illuminates a photocell for energy measurement, and the third can be used for absorption measurements in conjunction with the spectrophotometer, or for other applications.
