THz and IR Bandpass Filters: BPF Series

Source: Lake Shore Cryotronics, Inc.

The BPF Series of THz and IR Bandpass Filters block noise and improve signal detection in applications involving ground and space-based astronomy and astrophysics, THz device characterization and testing, THz and millimeter wave imaging and security, THz and FTIR spectroscopy and materials characterization, and general electro-optics research.

These THz and IR Bandpass Filters are designed for use in cryostats and adjacent to cooled detectors, and are compact and lightweight. They feature narrow pass bands with excellent transmission, a pure gold filter element for best results, precision frequency selective surfaces (FSS) with high spectral resolution, superior performance with “stacked” configurations, and more. Over 100 standard models are available, including four common aperture sizes and over 25 center wavelengths (CWLs) spanning from 10 to 590 µm (about 500 GHz to 30 THz)

Lake Shore’s BPF Series band pass filters are specifically designed for applications where precision and dependability are paramount, especially when used in extreme environments.  This series was originally developed for NASA for the SOFIA stratospheric telescope program and had to undergo extreme cryogenic temperatures, thermal cycling, high gamma radiation, vacuum/pressure cycles and vibration.
