People are always looking for ways to improve their fitness routine. Many exercises are tailored to target specific muscles or areas of the body. Typically, people measure the progress of their workout program by obvious physical changes that occur throughout the body, but the results can only be seen after months of hard work. These changes include weight fluctuation, muscle size, and stamina among others.

In collaboration with fitness instructors, we studied the effect of particular exercises on the body. Thermal imaging was used to document the effectiveness of each exercise. Charts were developed to present each individual exercise and its particular applications. This information may be used as a tool to tailor an individual’s workout routine, particularly if a specific area needs to be targeted. Another application may include matching thermal images of an individual practicing a particular sport with the corresponding exercise on the chart for a more targeted or specific workout.
