Testing All-Fiber Widely Tunable Thulium Lasers
Source: G&H

The broad emission spectrum of thulium fibers, which can extend from 1600-2200 nm, making a thulium fiber laser an excellent choice for building widely tunable fiber lasers. G&H presents the results from testing an all-fiber thulium laser system that can be tuned to any wavelength between 1710 – 2110 nm, without using any moving mechanical parts. An Acousto-Optic Tunable Filter (AOTF) is used as the tuning element, and core-pumped and cladding pumped thulium fibers are used to enable lasing action across the wavelength range.
