TelemaxX Deploys Ekinops 360 Platform In Germany

Paris - Ekinops, a provider of innovative optical transport, CWDM, DWDM and aggregation solutions for service providers and enterprise networks, announced recently that TelemaxX, a telecommunications service provider, has deployed the Ekinops 360 optical transport platform in its network in Germany. TelemaxX is using the Ekinops 360 in its backbone, connecting more than eleven major cities, including Frankfurt, Karlsruhe, and Eppelheim. Leveraging the platform's superior optical performance, TelemaxX is able to maximize capacity of its fiber network and eliminate expensive amplification sites while extending its geographical reach.

TelemaxX has been working closely with Ekinops to develop its optical transport network. Broadband service providers are using the TelemaxX network to provide triple play services (TV, telephone, Internet) and the new optical network will provide them with access to a much larger number of subscribers.

"We chose the Ekinops solution because of its performance capabilities and high flexibility", said Dieter Ketterman, General Manager of TelemaxX. "The Ekinops optical transport platform was the only solution powerful enough and capable of skipping multiple amplification sites, which translated into major savings."

The telecom and broadband markets in Germany have seen several years of strong growth. TelemaxX worked closely with its integrator, Pan Dacom Direkt GmbH, to identify innovative, effective, and cost-saving solutions that will help TelemaxX evolve its networks and meet the demands of broadband service providers. Ekinops fulfilled these needs with the implementation of its highly programmable Ekinops 360 platform, providing aggregation of Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and STM-16 traffic over 10 Gbps. The capacity of the TelemaxX network can be extended further up to 32 channels at 10 Gbps.

"As a close TelemaxX partner, we are always on the lookout for innovative technology," noted Dirk Bachmann, CEO of Pan Dacom Direkt GmbH. "The Ekinops solution provides TelemaxX with exceptional technology and great flexibility to scale its network in response to customer demand for higher bandwidth."

"We are very proud of our partnership with TelemaxX. Their success demonstrates the benefits of the Ekinops 360 platform for broadband service providers and carriers seeking to migrate their current infrastructures to next generation optical networks," added Sebastien Bernard, Ekinops' Sales Director for North EMEA.
