SWIR Multimode Tracking (MMT) Developments At SUI
Sensors Unlimited Inc. (SUI), a Raytheon Technologies Company, has expanded its short-wave infrared (SWIR) capabilities with new multi-mode tracking (MMT) solutions, enhancing applications in imaging and laser range finding (LRF). The SHIELD system integrates an external eye-safe LRF module with SUI’s SPS-MMT handheld device, allowing users to simultaneously image, track, and decode laser sources in real-time. SHIELD’s graphical user interface (GUI) provides user-selectable highlights and displays range data, enhancing situational awareness for military operations.
Another development, the 1280JDSX-MMT system, includes an embedded LRF receiver paired with a high-resolution 1280x1024 imaging sensor and 640x512 ALPD sensor. This integration offers precise targeting through time-of-flight (ToF) measurements, improving detection and accuracy in both indoor and outdoor settings. The 1280JDSX-MMT’s reticle-aligned ToF laser pulses help operators confirm target acquisition with visual verification.
Both systems underscore SUI's commitment to performance and reduced size, weight, and power (SWaP) demands, crucial for versatile applications, including UAVs and wearable devices. These technologies enhance target identification, tracking, and accuracy, meeting the diverse demands of military and commercial applications under challenging environmental conditions.
