SUSS Introduces New Wafer Level LED Test System

Integrated Spectralon sphere ensures highest uniformity and reflectance

Waterbury, VT -- SUSS MicroTec, a leading supplier of production, process and test technology for the semiconductor industry, announces a wafer level LED measurement capability with Labsphere's OmniLED Light Measurement System (LMS). The OmniLED sphere will be offered as a standard option on many of SUSS' prober platforms to provide a repeatable, turnkey on-wafer LED measurement solution.

With LEDs positioned to capture a growing share of the worldwide general illumination market, the need for testing earlier in the manufacturing process is a necessity. Identifying Known Good Die (KGD) at the wafer level saves valuable time and resources resulting in lower component costs.

The OmniLED LMS enables faster and more accurate on-wafer test of LEDs. The Spectralon optical head provides the highest uniformity and reflectance ensuring accuracy in test. The unique design of the sphere captures total flux emitted from LED devices at a single measurement point without sensitivity to die alignment and in accordance with CIE recommendations. The OmniLED system includes software that can bin and communicate directly with production MIS systems, thus providing a much faster measurement.
