Stocker & Yale Purchases Telecom Fiber Optic Drawing Tower

N/Ao further enhance its telecom capabilities, <%=company%> (Salem, NH) has purchased a fiber-drawing tower capable of producing telecom grade specialty optical fiber. The purchase of this fiber optic production asset from Brown University, RI, for an undisclosed amount, precipitates Stocker & Yale's ability to produce and deliver telecom grade, specialty optical fiber by Q2 of this year.

According to senior vice president and general manager George Fryburg, the equipment will provide the company with prototyping and evaluation capabilities for developing telecom fiber optic components. "We continue to retrofit our existing towers for telecom grade optical fiber and expect to be at full capacity by Q3," said Fryburg.

Like many companies in the photonics industry, Stocker & Yale is focusing on the telecom segment as a growth opportunity. According to company president and CEO Mark Blodgett, Stocker & Yale is focusing on the specialty fiber and phase mask technology market.
