SORL - Space Optics Research Labs

Source: SORL (Space Optics Research Labs), A McPherson Division
Space Optics Research Lab (SORL) is a leader in the manufacture of aspherical on and off-axis reflective optics to >lambda/30. Off-axis aspherics are required in telescopes, collimators, and beam expanders to achieve optimal system performance for SORL and other OEM compact designs. Reflective optics are preferred over refractive optics as customers require greater spectral agility. SORL produces aspheric mirrors from 1 cm to 1 m diameter. Depending on the application, SORL uses one or more of a variety of substrates such as: glasses, low-expansion glass-ceramics, fused silica, copper, and electro-less nickel-plated aluminum, etc. Coatings for UV Vis IR are available for all SORL optics. State-of-the-art optical figuring to highest quality and precision is achieved via laser-unequal-path-length interferometry and phase shift interferometric techniques. In systems, the optical surface figures are left unimpaired since assemblies feature stress-free mechanical mounting designs. SORL is a substantial company that designs and manufactures optics for various commercial OEM's including: aerospace, defense, public and private research institutes. Affiliated with McPherson Inc. "The Spectroscopy People", SORL provides VUV UV Vis IR components for their analytical instruments.
