Silicon Quadrant Photodiode
Centro Vision announces the QD50-0-SD that uses a quadrant silicon photodiode with a total active diameter of 7.98 mm. Each quadrant is connected to a transimpedance amplifier with a gain of 10,000 ohms.
The circuit contains the necessary amplifier elements to provide the sum of the outputs of all four quadrants, and difference outputs. These consist of the upper minus lower quadrants, and the left minus right quadrants. They make the combination ideal for both light beam nulling and position applications. The circuit requires a ±15V supply, and draws less than 50 ma current in the quiescent state. The photodiode has a spectral response ranging from 300 mm to 1100 mm.
Applications include light beam positioning and nulling. The circuit can also be used for target acquisition and alignment.
