Semiconductor Laser Scores $180,000 Diode Laser Order

By: Kristin Lewotsky

Chromatron Laser Systems GmbH (Berlin, Germany) has contracted Semiconductor Laser International Corp. (Binghampton, NY) to deliver high-brightness infrared diode lasers. Slated for delivery over the next 12 months, the order will total $180,000.

The multimode diode lasers produce 7 W of output at 808 nm ±5 nm, and are packaged in a high heat-load package. With an operating current of 8.5 A and a threshold current of 2.2 A, the devices demonstrate an average slope efficiency of 1.1 W/A. The beam divergence is 8° x 40°.
