The researchers at Erasmus MC University Medical Center in the Netherlands have developed a method of Raman spectroscopy that will substantially further and accelerate the diagnosis of melanoma. This innovative method applies shortwave-infrared Raman spectroscopy at a wavelength above 1 µm to the examination of darkly pigmented human tissue, and it significantly subdues any spectral disturbances from fluorescence effects in the visible realm.
