Rainbow Group Enters Infrared Imaging Market

With the recent completion of its joint venture agreement with ViaSpace Technologies and the subsequent formation of QWIP Technologies, Rainbow Group of Companies (Calgary, Alberta) has extended its playing field into the world of infrared imaging technology. Rainbow's 40% equity share in QWIP Technologies positions the company as a participant in a $2 billion market, with a projected annual growth rate of 29% over the next five years as reported by Frost and Sullivan.

QWIP Technologies holds the exclusive worldwide license from the California Institute of Technology (Pasadena, CA) to manufacture and sell gallium-arsenide-based quantum well infrared photodetectors (QWIP) offering thermal resolution of 0.025°C.
