Pulsed-Constant-Current Generators

Source: Avtech Electrosystems Ltd.
The series includes one model with a 0-5 Amp output and 15 Volt compliance, one with 0-1 Amp output and 40 Volt compliance, one with a 0-2 Amp output and 20 Volt compliance, and two with 0-5 Amp outputs and 25 Volt compliance
Avtech Electrosystems Ltd.family of general-purpose pulsed-constant-current generators are well suited for:
  • Laser diode driving
  • Airbag squib testing
  • Fuse testing
  • Semiconductor characterization

Features:

  • Peak outputs to 1.0 and 5.0 A (5 models)
  • Compliance voltages of 15, 20, 25 and 40 Volts
  • Pulse repetition frequencies to 10 kHz
  • Pulse widths from 1 ms to 100 ms
  • 0.2 ms, 4 ms, and 10 ms rise and fall times
  • DC bias variable to 500 mA
  • Two dual channel units for airbag squib testing
  • IEEE-488.2 GPIB and RS-232 control (-B units)
  • Output current monitor and overload protection

The series includes one model with a 0-5 Amp output and 15 Volt compliance, one with 0-1 Amp output and 40 Volt compliance, one with a 0-2 Amp output and 20 Volt compliance, and two with 0-5 Amp outputs and 25 Volt compliance.

Model AV-156A-C has two pulse amplitude ranges, of 0 to 500 mA and 0 to 5.0A. Within each range, the pulse amplitude is controlled by a ten-turn dial. A DC bias of 0 to 500 mA (controlled by a one-turn control) can be added to the output. This model provides 4 ms rise times, pulse widths from 10 ms to 10 ms, PRF to 10 kHz and a compliance voltage of 15 Volts. Model AV-156B-C is similar but with has a single pulse amplitude range of 0 to 1.0 A and a compliance voltage of 40 Volts. Model AV-156C-C features a 200 ns rise time with a 2 Amp, 20 Volt rating and provides pulse widths from 1 ms to 1 ms.

Model AV-156D-PS is a dual channel 5 Amp, 25-Volt unit for airbag squib testing and features thumbwheel control of amplitude, pulse width and delay (including the relative delay between the two output channels).

Model AV-156E-B is also a dual channel 5 Amp, 25 Volt unit for airbag squib testing but it features GPIB control of amplitude, pulse width, delay and triggering.

All models include a rear-panel monitor output, an automatic control feature and a standby/operate front-panel switch.
