A polarization-mode dispersion test set is based on interferometric measurement techniques that offer inherent accuracy and speed of measurement. The PMD440 is designed for field use and is rugged and lightweight. It has the capability to measure fiber runs of up to 140 km, and features a single button test approach.
The PMD440 consists of the receiver, a PC laptop controller with a Windows 95 operating system and a polarized LED light source operating at 1550 nm or 1300 nm.
