Tokyo, Japan – Photron Limited, a world leader in high-speed imaging technology, and a subsidiary of the Imagica Group, has announced the acquisition of all shares of Photonic Lattice, Inc. a pioneer in the photonic crystal technology widely employed in optical telecommunications and polarization imaging.

Originating out of Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan, Photonic Lattice possesses unique technology for designing and depositing fine laminated patterns of photonic crystals. They have been commercializing polarization measuring equipment using photonic crystals based on their established manufacturing technology for optical elements for more than 20.

Photonic Lattice and Photron have been in a joint development relationship for more than ten years and have drawn on their respective expertise to develop the high-speed 2D polarization CRYSTA camera and the birefringence mapping measuring device KAMAKIRI range.

With this acquisition of shares, Photron hopes to not only shorten the development time and improve the production quality by building a business relation that integrates the development, sales, manufacturing, and management of both Photron and Photonic Lattice, but also aims to develop new products to expand into the global market in the fields of photonic and semiconductor manufacturing.
