Optimized IR Lasers From ams OSRAM — Ideal For Particularly Demanding 3D Sensor Applications
3D sensor technologies can now be even more precise thanks to optimized IR lasers from ams OSRAM – with the BIDOS P3435 Q BELAGO 1.2 Dot Projector and the BIDOS P2433 Q, V105Q121A-850 Flood Illuminator.
The number of modern applications using 3D sensor technologies is steadily increasing, including ambient sensing for industrial robots, various face recognition applications, object detection, and machine vision. Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) is the key technology on which the latest two product launches from ams OSRAM are based.
The BIDOS P3435 Q BELAGO 1.2 Dot Projector emits light at a wavelength of 940 nanometers and combines an infrared VCSEL with advanced optics and a robust housing ideal for 3D sensing applications based on Active Stereo Vision (ASV) or Structured Light (SL). The high-resolution dot pattern facilitates the calculation of the depth map, enabling robots or driverless transport systems, for example, to autonomously detect and avoid obstacles — in all light conditions and with real-time object tracking. With 15,000 individual light points, the latest version from ams OSRAM is much more powerful than its predecessor, which significantly improves the accuracy of 3D sensing. Thanks to its compact dimensions of 4.2 mm x 3.6 mm x 3.3 mm, BELAGO 1.2 provides customers with a simple but versatile option for 3D sensing implementation.
The BIDOS P2433 Q, V105Q121A-850 Flood Illuminator is a packaged VCSEL for 3D sensor applications with Time-of-Flight (ToF) measurement that require the uniform illumination of their environment. By integrating the emitter and a photodiode dedicated to eye protection into a particularly small package with dimensions of just 3.3 mm x 2.4 mm x 1.2 mm, ams OSRAM is giving its customers enormous freedom of design coupled with the greatest possible ease of installation. The release will add an 850 nm variant to the BIDOS P2433 Q Flood Illuminator family, which means higher camera sensitivity and therefore even greater precision. The integrated photodiode allows for the easy implementation of an eye protection mechanism.
