Ophir Photonics' BeamGage Laser Beam Analysis Software Adds Support For 64-Bit Processing & Large Format Cameras

Ophir Photonics Group, the global leader in precision laser measurement equipment, recently announced BeamGage version 5.5, the company's next generation laser beam analysis software. The new version supports 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7, as well as the USB L11058 Large Format Beam Profiling Camera. The 11 mega-pixel, 35mm format L11058 is designed for measuring large laser beams. Its high resolution, 4008 x 2672 pixel format allows profiling of beams up to 24 x 36 mm without requiring reduction optics. Frame rates of up to 3.1 frames per second at full resolution increase throughput and productivity. BeamGage version 5.5 also provides more efficient processing by supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7. 64-bit versions address more physical memory, minimizing the time required to swap processes and increasing program performance.
The USB L11058 Large Format Beam Profiling Camera accurately measures CW (continuous wave) laser beams over an extensive spectral range, from 190 nm to 1100 nm. The camera also has a wide dynamic range of 59 dB. The camera features a global shutter which allows simultaneous integration of the entire pixel array; its short exposure time is ideal for capturing objects in high speed motion. An integrated USB 2.0 digital interface allows users to transfer measurement data to laptops and desktop computers.
For high-speed applications, BeamGage also supports low cost, high performance GigE (Gigabit Ethernet) cameras. They provide up to 1 Gigabit/s transmission rates, in a robust, miniature package (34 x 34 x 69mm). Based on the widely used Ethernet interface, the cameras are able to leverage the benefits of industry standard technology - ready availability, broad compatibility, and lower cost.
"From beam sources to material processing, innovations in laser technology are taking hold in a wide variety of commercial and scientific applications," stated Gary Wagner, President, Ophir-Spiricon. "New beam profiling products from the Ophir Photonics Group are designed to accommodate these innovations with larger format cameras, greater spectral coverage, and more innovative camera interfaces. Most of the cameras that Ophir historically supported with 32-bit operating systems are now supported at the 64-bit level with BeamGage version 5.5."
BeamGage is the industry's first beam profiling software to be newly designed, from scratch, using the most advanced tools and technologies. Based on UltraCal, Ophir-Spiricon's patented baseline correction algorithm, BeamGage provides high accuracy results, guaranteeing the data baseline (zero-point reference) is accurate to 1/8th of a digital count on a pixel-by-pixel basis. BeamGage is available in two versions: Standard and Professional. BeamGage Standard features BeamMaker beam simulator, automatic camera control for ease of use, and a comprehensive set of beam analysis algorithms. BeamGage Professional adds such capabilities as partitioning of the camera output for separate analysis of multiple laser beams from sources such as fiber, a .NET interface for full remote control when integrating beam analysis into an automated application, and camera sharing.
