New PowerGator™ Industrial-Grade DPSS Laser --High Speed, High Quality, Micromachining of Ceramic, Silicon and Metals over 1mm Thick at 532 nm

Source: Lambda Physik USA, Inc.

Lambda Physik introduces PowerGator™ 532-15, the latest in the series of industrial-grade DPSS lasers. Delivering over 13.5W average power and up to 50GW/cm2 peak power intensity, the system microfabricates high aspect-ratio features in hard materials over 1mm thick.

Short 15ns pulses and 532nm (green) improve plasma penetration for high aspect ratio microfabrication. These unique features reduce heat-induced affects, microcracking and redeposition of material, yielding higher quality surfaces and features deeper than longer pulse Green, UV and IR systems. High beam quality (TEM00 / near-diffraction-limited) allows excellent focusability for feature sizes below 20 microns.

Applications results show this short nanosecond pulsed, higher peak power - visible wavelength laser produces surface quality comparable to longer pulsed UV laser processing in ceramics, silicon, and metal alloys. At 10,000 Hz pulse rate, microfabrication production times exceed conventional electro-chemical, electrical discharge machining and UV laser systems for feature sizes as small as 20 microns and thickness over 1mm.

All Gator™ Series lasers are OEM grade and designed for 24-hour production demands. Featuring a hermetically sealed laser head, RS 232 function control for complete hands-free operation, and remote/removable supply unit, these lasers deliver optimal ‘process-up-time' with rated MTBF between 10,000 and 20,000 hours.

Our US-based applications lab can assist your process optimization efforts, for upgrading your current manufacturing process to the lower COO and improved speed and quality of shorter pulse 532nm micromachining.

Lambda Physik is the worldwide technology leader for pulsed UV and tunable laser sources for industrial, lithography, scientific and medical applications.
