MVTec Showcases Enhancements Of HALCON 9.0

At the VISION 2009 in Stuttgart, Germany, the Munich-based manufacturer of standard software for machine vision MVTec will showcase the features of HALCON 9.0 and additionally innovative enhancements of the latest release 9.0.1.
Within the machine vision community, HALCON is considered as a technology-leading force. HALCON 9.0 again sets high standards for machine vision technology. With the current release 9.0.1, the software package now is enhanced by important innovations.
Besides the already well-established technologies around 3D vision, HALCON 9.0 primarily comes up with improved usability and outstanding speedups. Furthermore, it enables to process extremely large images with more than 32k x 32k pixels.
HALCON's exceptional automatic operator parallelization which dispatches the processing to multiple threads was considerably speeded up with version 9.0, too. Thus, the benefit of multi-core computers now is even more significant.
Furthermore, HALCON 9.0 provides unique new matching technologies which enable to robustly and reliably find perspectively distorted objects. Additionally, with the release 9.0.1 their speed was considerably boosted in parts.
HALCON 9.0.1 now provides a silent installer. This tool makes it possible to install the HALCON runtime version under Windows without any user interaction. Thus, e.g., the remote maintenance of machines is significantly eased if their software must be updated. Release 9.0.1 also further enhances HALCON's integrated development environment HDevelop with a new 3D visualization mode. This mode is especially suited for interactively inspecting distance images.
To demonstrate how HALCON works, MVTec will showcase numerous examples in practice, e.g., a 3D vision robot bin picking application as well as the updated HALCON GigE Vision interface for powerful image acquisition.
