Mobile Infrared Scanning – High-Tech, Alternative To traditional Bridge Inspection Methods

Source: Teledyne FLIR

Thousands of bridges throughout the United States are structurally deficient and will require maintenance, repair, or replacement at an estimated total cost of $20.5 billion annually over the next 12 years. Identifying structural deficiencies in concrete bridges through traditional methods can be time consuming, and unsafe for both divers and inspectors. A high-tech alternative uses a truck-mounted infrared camera to pinpoint deliminated areas on concrete deck surfaces.
