Low SWaP SWIR Cameras For Multi-Mode Applications
This paper examines the camera development initiatives at Sensors Unlimited Inc. (SUI), a Collins Aerospace company, aimed at multi-mode short-wavelength infrared (SWIR) applications with a focus on minimizing size, weight, and power (SWaP). Over the past decade, there has been a growing demand for SWIR technology to facilitate both low-noise passive imaging and active illumination. As a result, cameras designed to accommodate both imaging modalities have been labeled “Multi-Mode.” This work provides an overview of the performance characteristics of SUI's multi-mode cameras, highlighting their passive and active imaging capabilities. Additionally, the paper outlines future directions for advancements in multi-mode SWIR camera technology.
