Low Cost Microchip Lasers Now Available

Untitled-1.jpg

Low cost microchip laser solutions are now available from Concepts Research Corporation (CRC). The current low cost option emits at 1064nm with 2uJ of pulse energy at ~1.3ns and repetition rates from 1Hz-5kHz. This laser is housed in the standard flat-pack (FP-2) package offered by CRC and is roughly half the cost of the standard lasers.

This laser is intended to give applications engineers a low cost alternative while still maintaining the quality of standard devices. Though performance is not as significant as standard units, it provides the engineer with the opportunity to evaluate the microchip laser technology without a substantial investment.

This version of the microchip laser incorporates a smaller wattage pump source in combination with microchips that have low doped passive q-switched densities. This enables a lower threshold performance at the expense of pulse energy output, but still offers nanosecond performance as well as excellent beam quality and pulse-to-pulse stability.

The low cost microchip is compatible with all of CRC's peripheral drive electronics, heatsinks, etc.

Concepts Research Corporation continues to offer standard microchip lasers at the following wavelengths: 473nm, 532nm, 946nm and 1064nm.

Typical applications for the microchip laser include seed pulses for amplified systems, marking, scribing, fluorescence measurement, LIDAR, range finding, biomedical, LIBS, etc.
