The BeamAlyzer is a new laser test instrument that offers users multi-functional capability in a system that is portable and versatile because it doesn't need to be connected to a PC. This stand-alone device measures the width, ellipticity, profile, position, output power and optical noise of laser beams from 3 µm to 19mm with 0.1 µm resolution and high dynamic range. The results are displayed in real time on large LED indicators, and can be logged and stored for later analysis.

The system uses multiple scanning knife-edges to scan up to seven independent axes with resolution of one micrometre. It then employs sophisticated tomographic analysis techniques to mathematically construct two- and three-dimensional contour plots. The system can display complex three-dimensional spatial intensity profiles of elliptical and non-TEM00 laser beams. Its novel design permits accurate profiling measurement of relatively high-power laser beams without using distorting attenuation.

The system features interchangeable heads with either three or seven knives, along with a choice of detectors that covers the spectrum from 190 to 1800nm. Along with the LED display with push-button controls for stand-alone use, it has graphics-oriented, user-friendly menu-driven software for use in conjunction with a VGA monitor if required. Other features include a small footprint and pass/fail capability.
