Lambda Physik Introduces Uniform Side Pumping Technology - USP Technology - for its GatorTM Series
Gator's high peak power/short pulse durations are essential for high quality, high aspect ratio microdrilling and micromachining of hard materials. The entire series produces diffraction limited TEM00 beam, with M2 <1.2, allowing for excellent beam focusability, and depth of focus. The combination of a diffraction limited Gaussian beam profile and short pulse length allow for drilling high aspect ratio holes, yielding low heat affected zones with exceptional surface quality, roundness and taper tolerances.
This series has been designed especially for micromachining of hard materials including drilling through holes, cutting and slotting. Of particular importance is the ability to drill blind holes and slots in the hardest materials including diamond, silicon, sapphire, ceramics and steel. Features below 10 micron can be produced with good surface finish. Typical examples are: Via drilling in silicon, silicon wafer dicing, sapphire wafer dicing, fuel injector nozzle drilling and stent cutting.
