L-3 Communications Scores $11.2 Million Display Contract from Navy

Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has awarded a contract to the display systems division of L-3 Communications to provide additional Programmable Tactical Information Displays (PTID) for the F-14D Tomcat aircraft. This multi-year contract modification is valued at $11.2 million and is expected to be completed by September, 2001.

Under the terms of the contract, L-3 Communications will manufacture and install the PTID units, which are used to receive, process and display tactical information in the F-14D. The equipment also receives and displays sensor video for viewing and evaluation by the flight crew. L-3's PTID enables both the tactical display and sensor video functions to be displayed simultaneously or independently.

L-3 Display Systems specializes production of ruggedized display systems, including active matrix liquid crystal flat panel displays and flat panel display processor electronics.
