Introduction To Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs)

Source: First Sensor AG

By First Sensor AG

Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) are radiation detectors designed with extremely high sensitivity, high efficiency, and very low time jitter. The technology is based on reversed biased p/n diodes, making them capable of direct light detection ranging from near ultra violet to near infrared. These SiPMs are ideal for applications where low light/radiation levels must be measured and quantified with high precision. Download this application note for an overview of the basic structure and operation, and in-depth information on the features of First Sensor’s SiPMs.
