Introducing the World´s Best Compact Clockwork for OEM Integration: The OFC Engine

Menlo Systems is proud to announce the release of the OFC Engine, the world’s best compact frequency comb designed specifically for OEM integration. Developed as the clockwork at the heart of next-generation compact optical clocks, the OFC Engine addresses one of the key challenges faced by system manufacturers: achieving state-of-the-art performance in a form factor suitable for mobile, airborne, and industrial platforms.

Compact optical clocks are rapidly emerging as a critical technology for GPS-free navigation, resilient timing, and advanced sensing, driving a global race to miniaturize and deploy these systems at scale. The OFC Engine enables this transition by combining low size, weight, and power with the performance and reliability for which Menlo Systems is known. Our Nobel-prize-winning technology meets low SWaP. With a volume of less than 4 liters, power consumption below 25 W, and a design optimized for continuous 24/7 operation and high-volume manufacturing, the system is ideally suited for industrial use.

The OFC Engine is a fully self-referenced frequency comb that integrates pumps, mode-locking, and beat detection with the customer’s clock laser, while allowing comb locking to be handled by the customer’s own electronics for seamless system integration. It delivers state-of-the-art fractional frequency stability of < 1 × 10-15 and ultralow phase noise, supporting not only compact optical clocks but also applications such as photonic microwave generation and mobile radar.

By offering a proven, industrial-grade solution, the OFC Engine significantly reduces development risk, integration effort, and total cost of ownership. Backed by worldwide service and support, and built on Menlo Systems’ extensive experience deploying frequency combs on aircraft and rockets, the OFC Engine provides the robustness and performance required to compete at the highest level.
