The SAD500 is a microprocessor-controlled interface A/D converter for serial port connection or stand-alone operation

The SAD500 is a microprocessor-controlled interface A/D converter for serial port connection or stand-alone operation. The converter can be used to interface to desktop or notebook PCs, PLCs, and other devices that support the RS-232 communication protocol. The interface function is useful in eliminating configuration problems often associated with PCMCIA cards.

The 12-b, 8-channel A/D converter has a 500 kHz sampling frequency, and provides a minimum integration time of 5 m/s when used with an S2000 spectrometer. It supports baud rates up to 115,200, and can transfer up to 4 scans/s.

The converter can either be placed in its own housing, which couples to the spectrometer via a 25-pin cable, or mounted directly atop the spectrometer board. It supports up to 8 spectrometer channels.
