A near infrared (NIR) detection system for spectroscopic applications, the IRMAX, is a compact, self-contained system featuring a rugged fixed grating spectrograph equipped with a single channel InGaAs photodiode detector. A rotating entrance slit mechanism allows the system to simulate a 1024 pixel linear IR detector that can acquire data at a maximum rate of 20 Hz. The advantage of the system is a detector with no dead pixels and no pixel-to-pixel variation in terms of sensitivity, dark current and noise performance.
The system comes with a fiber optic cable for data collection, a 16-bit data acquisition card and an IEEE488 interface for computer control. Available in two different wavelength ranges, 0.7 to 1.7 microns and 1.2 to 2.5 microns, the system can be controlled through the Windows-based operating software, SpectraMax.
