How To Use A Motion Control System For Spiral 3D Tomography Based On Air Bearings, Linear Motors And Piezo Motors
Source: PI (Physik Instrumente) LP

Technologies such as 3D Computerized Tomography (CT) and micro computed-tomography (micro-CT) systems are used to study the internal structures of a wide variety of material samples. PI has created an air bearing system that features and ultra-precise motion as it rotates and lifts a sample in a series of helical moves. This application note presents the new motion control system and explains how it works based on air bearings, linear motors, and piezo motors. Download the full paper for more information.
