High-Power Microlaser

A microlaser for externally modulated transmitter systems in high capacity broadband fiberoptic communications networks can produce up to 100 mW of output at 1550 nm, with linewidths narrower than 100 kHz and noise levels below -170 dB/Hz. The T-2000 series microlaser features an integrated chirp feature to enhance carrier-to-noise ration. The narrow linewidth substantially reduces fiber-dispersion-induced signal distortion, allowing high speed DWDM signals to be transmitted more than 1000 km before signal regeneration is required.
