HALCON Supports New Image Acquisition Devices

The machine vision software library HALCON from MVTec, Munich (Germany), again supports various new image acquisition devices. Thus, MVTec consequently follows its company policy to keep its software products independent and flexible.

Machine vision is a booming technology. Image acquisition devices are going from strength to strength. Since its market launch ten years ago, the software library HALCON stands for hardware independence. With immediate effect, HALCON offers the following new interfaces:

  • Interface to uEye Gigabit-Ethernet Cameras from IDS:
    Compared to the uEye USB 2.0, a more than doubled bandwidth and a cable length of up to 100 metres clearly enhance the possibilities. Moreover, the camera disposes of a multi I/O interface. This extension of the HALCON uEye interface applies for HALCON version 7.1 and further.
  • Interface to microEnable IV Camera Link Boards from Silicon Software:
    microEnable IV is a programmable high end frame grabber with a PCI express interface. It handles all kinds of Camera Link cameras. The boards are equipped with PCIe x1 (single lane) up to PCIe x4 (quad lane). The boards provide DDR-RAMs from 128 MB up to 512 MB. This new HALCON mEnableIV Interface applies for HALCON version 8.0.
  • Interfaces for camera series TXF and TXD from Baumer:
    These modular matrix cameras support the fast FireWire IEEE1394b standard with data transfer rates up to 80 MByte/s. With this new camera generation, Baumer supports the asynchronous data transfer (TXF cameras) as well as the isochronous data transfer (TXD cameras). The series TXD is supported by the HALCON 1394IIDC interface, the TXF series by the extended HALCON BaumerFCAM interface.
