An electrolytic gold coating process to apply a protective, highly reflective gold coating to precision metal optics
An electrolytic gold coating process to apply a protective, highly reflective gold coating to precision metal optics enhances the optics' reflectivity in the 8 to 12 µm range a minimum of 98.5 percent, while also providing corrosion and abrasion resistance.

Recommended for demanding applications where even distribution, purity and brilliance of the gold deposit are critical, the gold coating can be applied to electroless nickel optics of any shape or size. This gold coating enhances the optics' surface durability, extending the service lifetime. By applying the gold coatings in-house, the company avoids the lengthy lead times incurred by sending optics to outside vendors and keeps down associated costs.

Gold-coated optics are suitable for military, aerospace and defense applications such as high-precision targeting, acquisition and navigation systems in jets, tanks and armored vehicles and for commercial applications such as reprographics.
