FM Spectroscopy With Tunable Diode Lasers

Source: Newport Corporation

By Newport Corporation

Frequency-modulation spectroscopy (FMS) is a tool that offers high sensitivities and a simple setup, especially with tunable diode lasers. Tunable diode lasers provide a tunable output that can be modulated, and are used in the rapidly growing field of TDLAS (tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy). This application note has two main parts explaining the essential elements of the physics of FMS, and the basic physics of FM “saturation” spectroscopy. Download the full article for more information, as well as a brief discussion of the most common experimental difficulties encountered in FMS.
