First Sensor Reaches 10-Million Milestone With OEM Pressure Sensor

First Sensor AG, a developer and manufacturer of standard products and customer-specific solutions on the growth market of sensor technology, has produced its 10 millionth pressure sensor for the control of braking systems for a major German original equipment manufacturer. The sensors are installed in almost all gasoline-engined models of the group's brands. The order was confirmed last year and now covers the period up until 2021 with an anticipated annual sales volume of up to EUR 8 million.

The cooperation has been in place since 2011. Over the past years, unit volumes have been increased by around 40% per year. First Sensor has expanded the production capacity further in recent months and currently manufactures up to 15,000 units per day on two production lines - meaning that an OEM pressure sensor is completed roughly every six seconds.

Pressure sensors in braking systems are important because they recognize when a vacuum in the brake booster is insufficient and the vehicle's automatic start-stop system must therefore be deactivated.
