Sunex Inc. is pleased to introduce a new finite imaging lens family and design capability. Many applications today require that CMOS or CCD imaging lenses be optimized for a finite object, that is, for an object distance of less than about 250mm.

Most off-the shelf, compact CMOS and CCD lenses on the market today are Infinite Conjugate lenses. Megapixel and other demanding applications often require better image quality than an infinity-corrected lens can deliver at short object distances. Such applications include Document Imaging, Biometric Scanning and Imaging (facial recognition, fingerprint scanners and iris scanners), Machine Vision and diagnostic or clinical Medical Devices and Instrumentation.

A finite-imaging lens offers significant advantages, including reduced distortion, better F/# and application-specific performance characteristics. Sunex can custom design a lens for your finite imaging application or we can re-optimize many standard off-the-shelf lenses for finite imaging. With a large selection of off-the-shelf lenses available to choose from, this re-optimization approach can often reduce development time and cost of a pure custom solution.

In addition to offering better overall imaging performance, Sunex can also match your lens with a Sunex mount and nominally focus the assembly. This assures optimum thread match and reducing assembly and focus time on the customer's manufacturing line.

Samples of Sunex's standard product are available for purchase at www.optics-online.com. Please inquire if you need a variation on an existing design such as a custom coating or size. Sunex specializes in custom optical solutions designed for your application. Sunex support is comprehensive, from design to prototype to high volume production.
