San Francisco – Excelitas Technologies Corp., a global technology leader focused on delivering innovative, customized optoelectronics to OEMs seeking high-performance technology solutions, today announced the 6-watt LS-6 series, the newest addition to its PAX Family of Xenon light sources. The new LS-6 series features improved efficiency, upgraded electronics and enhanced enclosure design for advanced performance in biomedical technology applications.

The LS-6 series is a compact solution that contains the flash lamp, power supply and the trigger circuit within an electromagnetic interference suppressant enclosure. It features short arc Xenon flash lamps, known for their high stability (<1% CV) and long lifetime. The light sources, which generate light over a continuous spectrum, from ultraviolet to infrared, are specifically designed for healthcare, analytical and life science applications including drug discovery, in-vitro diagnostics, proteomics and absorption analysis.

“Manufacturers of diagnostic and instrument technologies require components that deliver extreme stability, long lifetime and superior performance,” said Michael Ersoni, Executive Vice President, Global Commercial Business, Excelitas Technologies. “The new LS-6 series provides OEMs with the reliability, precision and quality that they need to ensure the success of critical biomedical technology applications.”

In addition to enhanced performance, the LS-6 series’ state-of-the-art circuitry and components, the light sources offer flexible mounting, providing manufacturers with easy integration at a low cost.

The LS-6 series is on display at Photonics West (San Francisco, Feb. 4 – 6, 2014) at the Excelitas Technologies booth (5509).
