Developing Mid-IR Fused Fiber Couplers

By G. Stevens and T. Woodbridge, G&H PLC
The continuously increasing use of fiber lasers and fused fiber technology for industrial, medical, and sensing applications has led to the development of fused fiber devices in all-fiber system architectures. A fiber laser system that uses fiber components is able to become more compact, more robust, and may be assembled quickly by splicing all of the components together. This article demonstrates the results of G&H recent efforts on developing single-mode fused couplers in a ZBLAN fiber in the mid-IR range. Download the full article for more information the possible SM fused fiber components using ZBLAN and chalcogenide fibers.
