20 - DART Bare Fiber Adapter

DART™ bare fiber adapter secures fibers with adjustable protrusion via an integrated roller, using a universal 2.5 mm ferrule and interchangeable tips (80 µm–1+ mm).

The DART™ Bare Fiber Adapter System provides an innovative solution for the challenges of bare fiber termination and system testing. Central to its design is a patent-pending positioning feature integrated into a common coupling mechanism, which permits the user to continually advance or retract the fiber from the ferrule endface. This functionality is essential for maintaining consistent fiber contact during the entire polishing cycle, especially when processing at variable angles. Beyond polishing, the DART™ system serves as a critical interface for test equipment, allowing for the attenuation of transmitted power and precise control of detector or transmitter proximity coupling.

The system’s modular architecture utilizes universal adapters with a common 2.5mm ferrule interface, supporting a wide array of fiber diameters ranging from 80µm to 1000µm. These modules are easily interchangeable, with specific options available for SC, FC, LC, and SMA connectors, as well as specialized adapters for ribbon fiber, ball lenses, and fiber bundles. For advanced applications, the DART™ can interface with a videoscope to align PM fiber stress members for proper orientation during processing. By allowing multiple DART™ assemblies to be used simultaneously in KrellTech or third-party polishers, this system enables laboratories and manufacturing facilities to scale their bare fiber processing capabilities without investing in dedicated machinery.
