Comparing Fiber-Coupled And Free-Space Lasers For Projection Applications

The standard approach to industrial image processing uses free-space  laser diodes as a system light source. Unfortunately, these conventional free-space laser diodes do not have an imaging performance that satisfies the growing number of requirements placed on the laser module’s projection system. A strong argument can be made that using fiber-coupled singlemode laser diodes will have better system performance. This white paper compares the use of fiber-coupled and free-space lasers in projection applications.
